The Bod Squad- The Trailer!

We've been cooking up such things around here lately, and finally, something delicious has come out of the Spinning Gyre kitchen! We present to you a trailer for The Bod Squad- the newest web series to come out of Madison WI.

I'd tell you about the premise, maybe something about girls in lingerie and robbery and running from the law, but I think the trailer will speak for itself.

The full first episode should be out by the end of the weekend. Stay tuned!!

We're not web designers, but this is pretty f'ing sweet

Welcome to the bad-ss new design for The Spinning Gyre! We want to make this place somewhere that you want to spend time, and this whole pink-purple-silver thing makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over. Hopefully it does the same for you.

You can still find the same awesome videos and stuff like you always could right here in Productions, but there's some new stuff too. Mainly, both Amy and I now have our own little corners of the sight, so even if there's no new videos you can still stop by and check out two sources of new stories, anecdotes, pics, clips and more.

Stay tuned for all new content as well as the first episode of our first ever series, "The Bod Squad," coming mid-July (exact date still to be annouced). Thanks for watching!

So close, yet so... yeah.

We wrapped filming of the pilot episode this weekend- thanks to everyone who helped! We have one uber-short scene to get filmed still, a 15-second flashback clip, but we're otherwise done filming the Bod Squad pilot. I've been sifting through footage and doing some editing, and I'm pretty excited to see the final product. And all sorts of people have been asking about it, so, you know, no pressure.

I'm also working up a trailer for the series. True story: when I was in elementary school, our teacher gave us an assingment to write a trailer for a book we were reading (I chose a Wrinkle in Time- still a pretty f'n awesome book). Anyway, after that assignment, my 10-year-old self decided that the best job in the world would be to write trailers. I don't think there's a job out there that's expressly putting together trailers (maybe though! the film industry does love subdivision of labor), but I do get a kick out of the fact that I'm doing what I wanted at age 10. It's my version of being a fireman or astronaut. Cool.

I love our actors!

I'm not even going to pretend to be cool and smooth here, guys- filming today was awesome. Casting was a little bit of a struggle for us-- not as many actors showed up to the auditions as RSVP'd to them, etc-- but today proved that we definitely made the right choices. Our sexy-girl-trio is perfect.

Everyone really embodies their character and had a really great rapport; for 3 girls that had never met each other before, they managed to come off as comfortable, slightly-bickery best friends. Huzzah.

Just wait until you see it, kids. It's gonna be bitchin.

Happy Birthday, Vince

I present for your and everyone's enjoyment a small token of my affection. Happy 24, baby.

As usual, I recommend going to YouTube itself and watching the video- the quality seems to be better. Does any one know why video posts on these blog entries are suddenly being cut off on the right-hand side such that several of the right-hand controls are not accessible?

Eh.

We've been working pretty hard on the Bod Squad lately- getting a lot of filming done this weekend, actually, including the robbery scene itself, which ought to be lots of fun. But in the meantime I wanted (instead of buying a real present like a normal girlfriend) to make a silly video for Vince's bday. I know that the camerawork is less than ideal- some of it's out of focus, a lot of it is shaky, but in the future I'll have a cameraman for this job! Unfortunately, that cameraman is also the recipient of this video-present, so there you go.

I wish Barber's Adagio was in the public domain. Stupid 20th-century musicians. *grumble* Oh well, I'm not using it for profit, only love. And there's no copyright on love.*

Anyway, happy birthday, babe. I love you.

*Yet. I hear Hallmark has their best people on it.
